Band update.

The story so far...

Although your mates in the band ‘Beside the Point’ have been getting a few solid write-ups in the local music press, they haven’t (as yet) received any word from venues wanting to hear more of their stuff, or wanting them to play live.

As designated band manager and sound engineer extraordinaire, you've decided that it's time for BTP to record a new demo CD.

Once you've recorded a new CD, your plan is to send a copy to all the local venues to promote the guys. Hopefully, someone will be impressed by BTP and book them to play.

You figure that if there are any extra copies of the CD, you can sell or give them away as prizes at the door.

Before you start organising the recording session for 'Beside the Point', download the following worksheet to complete as you work your way through the unit.

Operate sound mixing console - worksheet.

Store your completed worksheet in a file as your online teacher will want to see it at the end of this unit. It will form part of the assessment for this unit.

If you ever lose your worksheet you can grab another copy off the audio school lecturer, Helen.

Being a close friend of 'Beside the Point', you're the one in charge of pretty much everything for today's recording. You're going to set up your mum's house as a studio and with a bit of luck (and fingers crossed) everything will run smoothly and BTP will get their demo recorded.

To help them get ready for their recording and (hopefully!) follow up live gig, you've made yourself a 'To do' list and it looks like this:

1. Set up a recording studio in the house.
2. Bring in the band and hook up their equipment.
3. Monitor, mix and record the band.
4. Unhook everything and return the studio to its original condition.

For a complete list of what you're going to have to organise for this recording and follow up live performance, don't forget that you can refer to the set list for extra help. You can access this any time you want from the menu on the left.
