Scenario

You have just accepted the position of manager in a large Beauty Therapy Day Spa in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney. You are supervising and managing 9 beauty therapists who are employed as both full time and casual staff.

You will first investigate several different leadership styles and look at some perceived strengths and weaknesses of Australian managers in general.

After analyzing the attitudes of your staff, as reviewed in a questionnaire, you will then identify some overall strengths and weaknesses of the staff. As the manager, you will then prepare for a staff performance appraisal meeting, conduct the meeting and then reflect on the outcomes.

As you read through each topic there will be activities to complete and these will form part of your learning and assessment for this unit.
